HISTORY

The original resort opened in the late 1950's when the Bull Shoals Dam was being constructed. Bill Olliverson and his family started the resort, which had a few camping spots and a couple of small mobile camper unit spaces alongside the banks of the White River. He would run the resort for nearly 7 years before selling it to Audrie and Stu Stetson in the early 1960's. The Stetsons were relatives and partial heirs to the famous Stetson Hat Company, and it's their name the resort still proudly carries today.

Over the following decades the resort passed through a handful of dedicated owners, each one building on what came before — trading the original campsites and camper spaces for comfortable cabins, a lodge, and the kind of riverfront hospitality that keeps guests coming back. What began as a humble fishing camp grew, little by little, into a true destination on the White River.

Today, Stetson's on the White is home to modern log cabins with full kitchens, baths, updated furnishings, and amenities like WiFi and satellite TV — all set in the rustic, scenic beauty of the Ozarks. Guests come for world-class trout fishing on the famous White River, with guided trips, boat rentals, a full boat dock and ramp, and a gift and tackle shop right on site. The resort also welcomes corporate retreats, conferences, and family reunions, with dining and meeting space to match. Under new ownership, that same goal carries forward: a beautiful rustic setting, fresh and updated, with every modern comfort. As the staff likes to say, "Those who enter Stetson's are strangers but once!"
